Generated explanation

Two views of a roof eave and exterior wall illustrate winter and summer clues associated with ice dams. The winter view shows snowmelt flowing toward an ice dam at the eave, with water backing up behind the ice and icicles hanging over the wall and windows. The summer view shows heating cables arranged along the lower shingle roof and areas labeled as damaged roofing. Both views show stained siding below the eave. An interior inspection note advises looking for water stains at window tops, wall/ceiling damage, and poor insulation/ventilation.
