Generated explanation

The illustration shows two shingled roof slopes meeting at a fully woven closed valley. Shingle courses from opposing slopes interlace across the valley, with shingles extending 12 inches past the centerline. Beneath the woven shingles, the valley lining consists of 3-foot-wide roll roofing or a double layer of felt nailed at its edges. The drawing specifies a 3-inch-wide band of asphalt cement to bond shingles in the valley area and prohibits nailing within 6 inches of either side of the valley centerline.
