Alligatoring in Flat Roofs Alligatoring Built-up Roofing

Text in the illustration

watch for alligatoring in exposed asphalt

Generated explanation

The illustration shows a flat-roofed building with parapet walls surrounding an exposed roofing surface. A circular detail linked to the roof enlarges a network of irregular, interconnected cracks in the exposed asphalt. This scale-like cracking pattern is identified as alligatoring, a deterioration condition to watch for during inspection. An exterior downspout and a small opening in a parapet wall are also shown.
