Text in the illustration

seams are often sealed with hot air welding, but solvent welding is also used
the membrane is typically secured to the roof sheathing with contact cement, mechanical fasteners or securement strips
roof sheathing

typically 5' to 10' wide

flashings are typically PVC or PVC clad metal
note:
when very cold, PVC roofs can get brittle
this is even more of a problem if the membrane is tight
don't walk on a PVC roof if the temperature is below 50°F

Generated explanation

The illustration shows PVC roofing membrane laid over roof sheathing, with one corner peeled back to expose the substrate. Adjacent membrane sheets form a seam, and annotations describe hot-air or solvent welding and attachment using contact cement, mechanical fasteners, or securement strips. A raised skylight has flashing around its base, identified as typically PVC or PVC-clad metal. Dimension arrows indicate membrane widths of typically 5 to 10 feet, and an arrow identifies the downward roof slope. A caution notes that PVC roofs can become brittle in cold weather, especially when the membrane is tight, and advises against walking on them below 50°F.
