The illustration shows overlapping courses of wide selvage roll roofing installed over roof sheathing, with the downward roof slope indicated. Each strip has a smooth selvage portion and a mineral-surfaced portion, with fasteners shown along the upper edge of the selvage. Curled-back ends reveal the overlapping layers and the cement bonding between them. An annotation specifies a bead of cement below the bottom edge of each layer. The indicated exposure is L/2 minus 2 inches, typically 16 inches.
