Generated explanation

The illustration shows a section through a gravel-surfaced built-up roof meeting a masonry parapet wall. A four-ply membrane lies over roof sheathing supported by a roof rafter. At the wall, a cant strip supports the sloped transition beneath base flashing consisting of two layers of felt mopped up the wall. Metal counter flashing let into the masonry overlaps the base flashing, while metal cap flashing covers the parapet top and extends down its sides. The cap slopes toward the roof for drainage.
