Generated explanation

The perspective drawing shows a wooden pier supporting a built-up wood beam, with floor joists attached at the beam and a labeled joist hanger. Cracks are illustrated in the concrete floor around the pier, and an arrow identifies the base of the wood as a location to check for rot. Annotations advise checking the concrete floor or pier pads for cracking and movement and probing the wood near floor level for rot or insect damage. Two cross sections show a pier bearing on a footing: one illustrates upward heaving and the other downward settling, with corresponding distortion and cracking of the surrounding concrete floor.
