Generated explanation

The illustration shows wood, steel, and concrete structural column types. The wood examples include a fastened built-up column supporting a beam, a square solid column, and a round column. Wrapped barriers at the wood column bases are identified as polyethylene or type S roll roofing to prevent direct wood-to-concrete contact. The steel column supports a beam through a top bearing plate and has a base plate. Concrete examples include square and round solid columns and a column built from stacked hollow concrete masonry units.
