Generated explanation

Two perspective details illustrate wood floor joists transferring loads to steel I-beams. In the left detail, opposing joists overlap above the beam and bear on its top flange. In the right detail, joist ends sit lower, supported on the beam's bottom flange, with wood connecting pieces fastened along their sides across the beam location. The illustration compares two bearing arrangements without identifying either as defective.
