Wall – Planes of Movement Masonry Wall

Text in the illustration

this corner shows movement in two different planes (dropping and rotating outward)
generally speaking, more planes of movement indicate a more serious problem

Generated explanation

The illustration shows a masonry-walled building with a hip roof and cracking around the base of an exterior corner. A prominent crack extends across both adjoining wall faces, separating a lower corner section from the wall above. Arrows indicate that this section is dropping and rotating outward, demonstrating movement in two different planes. Additional thinner cracks extend into the adjacent wall areas. The annotation states that movement in more planes generally indicates a more serious problem.
