Generated explanation

The illustration shows wood roof framing with hip, valley, common, and jack rafters above wall top plates. Jack rafters terminate against the sides of diagonal hip and valley rafters, while common rafters extend along the roof slope. The hip rafter follows an outside roof intersection, and the valley rafter follows an inside roof intersection. A note explains that hip and valley rafters are typically one size larger than jack rafters to provide full contact for the angled ends of the jack rafters. No defects are depicted.
