Damaged Wire Wire – Damaged

Text in the illustration

wire can easily be nicked when the insulation is being stripped
this creates a localized hotspot that is a fire hazard
wire nicking is more likely when dealing with aluminum wiring since it's softer
insulation

Generated explanation

The illustration shows an insulated electrical wire with insulation stripped from one end to expose the conductor. A deep nick in the conductor immediately beside the remaining insulation is highlighted by a dashed circle and an arrow. The annotations explain that stripping insulation can nick the wire, creating a localized hotspot and fire hazard. They also note that softer aluminum wiring is more susceptible to nicking.
