Generated explanation

The illustration compares cartridge fuses, conventional Edison screw-base fuses with fuse rejectors, and Type S fuses with permanent adapter bases. Two cartridge fuse sizes are shown: a medium size for 35–60 amps and a small size for 15–30 amps, illustrated with 60-amp and 20-amp examples. The upper-right diagrams show 15-amp and 30-amp Edison fuses fitting their respective rejectors, with a prohibition symbol indicating that the 30-amp fuse cannot fit the 15-amp rejector. The lower-right diagrams show Type S fuses and threaded bases that remain in the fuse panel and accept only the appropriate fuse size. Arrows and prohibition symbols emphasize prevention of substitution with a higher-amperage fuse.
