Exposed Bulbs are a Fire Hazard

Text in the illustration

exposed bulbs should either be protected by a cage or the fixture should be changed to one where the bulb is protected

Generated explanation

The illustration compares two ceiling-mounted light fixtures with incandescent bulbs. The left fixture has an exposed bulb and is marked with a red X, identifying an improper arrangement in closets and tight spaces where fire hazards or mechanical damage are concerns. The right fixture surrounds the bulb with a protective cage and is marked with a green check. The annotation recommends protecting exposed bulbs with a cage or replacing the fixture with one that protects the bulb.
