Generated explanation

The illustration shows a furnace and connected ductwork in a room with an open entry door, comparing three locations for its electrical shutoff switch. A switch beside the doorway is labeled the best location, while a switch on the wall between the door and furnace is satisfactory. A switch beyond the furnace, away from the doorway, is marked as a poor location with a red prohibition symbol. The annotations explain that furnace switches should be between the furnace and the room door for easy emergency access, and that basement furnace switches are often located at the bottom of the stairs.
