Burner – Natural Draft Gas Natural Draft Natural Draft Burners for Gas Appliances

Text in the illustration

natural draft (or atmospheric) burners do not rely on a fan to push air into the combustion chamber (forced draft) or a fan to pull it through from the exhaust side (induced draft)
natural draft burners are found in conventional furnaces

Generated explanation

The illustration shows a conventional gas furnace with its burner compartment exposed and its lower blower compartment partly open. A gas supply pipe with a shutoff valve connects to the gas control and burner assembly, highlighted by a large arrow. A vertical vent pipe exits the top of the furnace, beside an opening showing internal heat-exchanger passages. The annotations explain that natural draft, or atmospheric, burners use neither a forced-draft fan to push combustion air in nor an induced-draft fan to pull it through from the exhaust side. The blower shown below the burners is separate from the combustion draft arrangement.
