Generated explanation

The illustration compares belt-drive and direct-drive centrifugal blowers for forced-air furnaces. The separate belt-drive assembly has an external motor connected to the blower by a belt running over pulley sheaves; a cutaway in the housing exposes the blower blades. The direct-drive blower is shown installed in the lower compartment of a gas furnace, with its motor mounted at the blower wheel axis and no external belt or pulleys. The furnace also shows burner components, gas piping, and a vent connector extending from the top. Neither arrangement is depicted as defective.
