air separators (air scoops) trap air bubbles at the top of the boiler heat exchanger and channels them to an automatic air vent (for discharge) or into the expansion tank

Generated explanation

The illustration shows two cross sections of boiler heat exchangers with air separators, alongside a perspective cutaway of a gas-fired boiler heat exchanger and burners. In the upper cross section, air bubbles collect at a built-in separator and rise to an automatic air vent while hot water exits to the left. The lower cross section shows a screw-in air separator at the hot-water outlet and a separate upward connection labeled to the expansion tank. Arrows indicate water circulation through the heat exchangers, with cold water entering and hot water leaving the perspective assembly. The figure explains air removal arrangements without depicting a defect.
