Generated explanation

A house cross section shows a factory-built wood-burning fireplace connected to a vertical metal chimney beside a masonry chimney. The metal chimney turns into the masonry chimney below the roof rather than continuing through the roof independently. A red prohibition symbol marks the junction as improper. The annotations explain that factory-built fireplaces and their chimneys are designed to work together, and that mixing masonry and metal chimneys makes cleaning difficult and can cause localized overheating and creosote buildup at the joint.
