Generated explanation

The illustration shows roof, soffit, ridge, and gable vent locations using two cross sections and a cutaway perspective of a gable-roofed building. The eave section shows insulation at the ceiling and wall, a low soffit vent, and a roof vent higher on the slope; its annotation recommends equal proportions of low and high vents. The ridge detail shows air flowing through an opening cut in the roof sheathing beneath a ridge vent. The perspective shows louvered gable vents at opposite ends of the attic, with an annotation stating that some experts consider soffit vents optional in this arrangement.
