Generated explanation

A cross section shows a ceiling-mounted whole house fan beneath a sloping attic roof, with insulation at the attic floor and in the exterior wall. The fan occupies an opening through the insulated ceiling, with louvers below and a box-shaped insulated cover illustrated above it. Soffit and roof vents are identified along the roof assembly. Although the title refers to a missing insulating cover, the drawing shows the cover's location and explains that without one the fan opening can allow air leakage and heat loss into the attic.
