Generated explanation

The illustration shows a basin with a P-trap and a drain branch connected to a waste stack. A vertical vent pipe rises from the drain branch, then turns into a horizontal offset that connects to the stack above the drain connection. A dashed line marks the basin's flood rim level, with a vertical dimension indicating the height of the horizontal vent above it. The annotation states that some authorities require the vent to rise as much as 6 inches above the flood rim level before offsetting horizontally.
