Generated explanation

Two wall sections illustrate freeze-protection arrangements for outside faucets. The upper drawing shows a conventional outdoor faucet connected to an indoor shutoff valve with a drain cap on the downstream side; the annotations instruct opening the faucet and drain cap in winter after closing the shutoff. The lower cross section shows a frost-proof faucet with a long stem placing its valve inside the house, and notes that no extra shutoff is required. Both assemblies slope downward toward the exterior for drainage. The frost-proof detail also states that the area immediately around the pipe should not be insulated.
