Generated explanation

Six side-view wall sections illustrate bevel, rabbeted bevel, tongue-and-groove, shiplap, channel, and drop wood siding attached through sheathing to studs. Bevel siding is shown with a 1-inch overlap and nails driven just above the undercourse; both bevel profiles are identified for horizontal installation only. Tongue-and-groove siding shows two face nails for boards 8 inches or wider and diagonal nailing through the tongue for boards 6 inches or narrower. The shiplap detail identifies an expansion gap, 1-inch nail penetration into solid wood, and double nailing for wider boards. Tongue-and-groove, shiplap, channel, and drop siding are identified as suitable for horizontal or vertical orientation, with a general note relating nail count to board width.
