Generated explanation

The illustration shows a cutaway exterior wall clad with wood shingles above a foundation wall. Wall framing supports sheathing, which is covered by sheathing paper or housewrap beneath the shingles. The shingles are installed in overlapping courses with staggered vertical joints and a double starter course at the bottom. A peeled-back portion of the weather barrier reveals the sheathing, and the cutaway also shows the adjacent floor framing. No defects are depicted.
