Generated explanation

The illustration shows a wood deck attached to an exterior wall by a ledgerboard secured with lag bolts. Cutaway siding and deck boards expose the flashing, ledgerboard, and deck joists. Flashing extends up behind the siding and over the top of the ledgerboard, with its outer edge turned down over the ledger face. An enlarged inset uses a water-flow arrow to show water being directed over the flashing and away from the ledgerboard's top. Deck boards span the joists, and posts on circular footings support the outer deck framing.
