Generated explanation

Two cross sections compare a basement window well before and after correcting wood-to-soil contact at the window frame. The original condition shows the well surface at the bottom of the wood window frame, with a pressure-treated wood well wall retaining the surrounding soil. The corrected condition lowers the surface within the well to provide 6 inches of clearance below the frame. An annotation notes that the well walls may need modification if they do not extend down far enough for the lowered soil level. Gravel beneath the well connects to a vertical gravel-filled drainage path leading to drainage tile beside the foundation footing.
