Generated explanation

The illustration shows a house elevation with its basement foundation and footing exposed in a soil cross-section. Large arrows identify surface water descending beside the roof and moving toward the foundation along the ground. The ground on the left slopes toward the house. The diagram attributes 90% of wet basement problems to surface water and 10% to groundwater, shown in the deeper soil layer. No specific foundation crack or water-entry opening is depicted.
