Generated explanation

The illustration shows tab-type and rail-type avalanche guards on a sloped slate roof. Individual upright tabs project above the overlapping slate courses, while a continuous rail is supported by brackets near the lower edge of the depicted roof. Snow covers the upper roof area, with a large arrow indicating its downslope movement toward the guards. The guards serve to restrain sliding snow, and an annotation notes that they are more common on slate, clay and concrete roofs. No installation defect is identified.
