Asphalt Shingle – Valley Flashings Asphalt Shingles Valley Flashing On Roofs

Text in the illustration

open valleys laid with overlapped individual shingles are likely to leak
this is poor practice

Generated explanation

Two asphalt-shingled roof slopes meet at an open valley. Overlapping individual shingles form the valley lining, with the adjacent roof shingles cut back to expose the drainage channel. A large red prohibition symbol marks this installation as improper. The annotations warn that open valleys lined with overlapped individual shingles are likely to leak.
