Generated explanation

A section through a flat roof at a brick wall shows a modified bitumen roof membrane over roof sheathing supported by a roof rafter. Modified bitumen base flashing extends across the roof edge and turns up the wall, with metal counter flashing overlapping its vertical leg. The counter flashing is surface-mounted using a horizontal bar secured to the wall, and its top is caulked. A vertical dimension indicates 8 to 14 inches above the roof surface. Annotations state that this installation requires regular maintenance and that no cant strip is shown.
