Generated explanation

The illustration shows a section through a gravel-surfaced built-up flat roof where it meets a brick wall. A four-ply membrane lies over roof sheathing supported by a roof rafter and turns upward over an angled support at the wall. Metal counter flashing is nailed and caulked to the wall, with these attachment and sealing locations identified as potential water entry points. The counter flashing lacks a hem for rigidity, and exposed membrane at the transition is identified as deteriorating quickly. A large red prohibition symbol marks the assembly as a lower-quality flashing practice.
