Generated explanation

The illustration presents column sizes for built-up wood, solid wood, steel, concrete, and concrete block supports. The built-up wood column supports a beam and is annotated with member width, fastening requirements, and a requirement that the column match the beam width. Square and round solid wood columns are labeled with minimum dimensions of 5-1/2 inches square and 7-1/4 inches diameter, respectively. A tubular steel column supporting a beam is shown with top and bottom bearing plates and notes specifying minimum diameter, wall thickness, and plate dimensions. Square and round concrete columns and a stacked concrete block column are shown with their respective size annotations.
