Generated explanation

The illustration compares single-piece and telescoping adjustable steel columns, both with square top and base plates. The single-piece column has one hollow tube and an adjusting screw at its lower end. The telescoping column has nested hollow tubes, adjustment holes, a locking pin, and an upper screw adjustment. The annotations state that the single-piece column can serve as a permanent column in the US if it is at least 3 inches in diameter, and in Canada if it has a CCMC label. The telescoping column is identified as unsuitable for permanent use in the US but acceptable in Canada with a CCMC label.
