B
a jumper wire should be installed around a water meter if the electrical service is grounded downstream of the meter

Generated explanation

Two diagrams illustrate bonding jumper wires used to maintain electrical continuity across interruptions in metal water piping. Diagram A shows a jumper clamped to copper and galvanized pipes on opposite sides of a dielectric connector. Diagram B shows a jumper clamped to piping on either side of a water meter, bypassing the meter assembly. The annotation specifies that the meter jumper should be installed if the electrical service is grounded downstream of the meter. A shutoff valve is shown on the vertical pipe below the meter.
