Generated explanation

The illustration shows an open wood fire on a cave floor, with a person seated nearby on a log. Wavy arrows depict radiant heat traveling from the fire toward the person and returning from the cave walls. A large plume of smoke rises from the fire and occupies the upper cave interior. The annotations explain the warming effect of the enclosing walls while identifying smoke as a problem with bringing an open fire indoors.
