Generated explanation

The illustration shows a cross section through a masonry fireplace and chimney with a fireplace insert installed in the firebox. A continuous stainless steel liner connects to the top of the insert, bends through the fireplace throat and smoke chamber, and extends upward within the chimney flue. Brick masonry surrounds the assembly, with a concrete support below the hearth and a wood floor joist alongside it. The annotation explains that continuous stainless steel liners are now commonly required for fireplace inserts because of past problems with chimney connections.
