Generated explanation

The illustration shows a fireplace with a pair of framed glass doors, central handles, and a slotted grille beneath the doors. A mantel and surround frame the opening, and a tiled hearth extends into the room. Dashed circles and callouts identify inspection concerns: a rusty or warped frame, inoperative doors, and cracked or broken glass. The accompanying note explains that glass doors reduce heat radiated into the room but also reduce the loss of warm household air up the chimney.
