Air Conditioning – Coil Exhausting Hot Air Outside Condenser – Air Conditioning – Exhausting Hot Air Outside Air Conditioning – Basics

Text in the illustration

the compressor forces hot, high pressure refrigerant gas into the top of the coil located outside
air blowing across the coil condenses the refrigerant from a gas into a liquid (this is why we call this outside coil the condensing coil)
in the conversion from gas to liquid, lots of heat is released into the outside air
flow direction
hot refrigerant gas (e.g., 170°F) PLUS high pressure
condenser coil
warm outside air blown across coil at 85°F
hot air discharged into outside atmosphere at >100°F
hot, high pressure liquid refrigerant (typically 100°F)

Generated explanation

The illustration shows an outdoor air-conditioning condenser coil with refrigerant entering at the top as hot, high-pressure gas and leaving at the bottom as high-pressure liquid. Arrows indicate refrigerant flow through the connecting lines and outside airflow across the finned coil. Incoming outside air is labeled 85°F, while discharged air is labeled greater than 100°F. The annotations explain that heat is released to the outside air as the refrigerant condenses from gas to liquid, with example refrigerant temperatures of 170°F at entry and typically 100°F at exit.
