Generated explanation

The diagram shows a residential air-conditioning refrigerant circuit divided into inside and outside by a dashed line. Warm indoor air passes through the evaporator coil, where refrigerant boils and leaves as warm gas traveling toward the outdoor compressor. The compressor sends hot gas to the condenser coil, where refrigerant condenses and warm air is discharged outside. Hot liquid refrigerant flows back toward the house, with a question-mark symbol identifying the location where an expansion device is required to produce cold liquid refrigerant before it enters the evaporator. Arrows indicate refrigerant flow and air movement.
