Generated explanation

The illustration shows a power-vented gas water heater and a high-efficiency gas furnace with exhaust pipes routed through exterior walls. The water heater has an induced draft fan at its top, hot and cold water connections, and a gas supply connection. Its fan-assisted exhaust runs upward and then horizontally through the wall. The furnace has a sealed combustion unit with separate outdoor combustion-air intake and fan-assisted exhaust pipes. Arrows indicate incoming combustion air and outgoing exhaust, distinguishing these flow paths at the furnace.
