Generated explanation

Three cross-sectional views show pull-down attic stairs in stored, partially lowered, and extended positions. View A shows the folded stairs beneath an insulated cover spanning the attic access opening, with insulation on either side. Views B and C use curved arrows to illustrate lowering the assembly and unfolding the hinged stair section. An annotation identifies the access as a potential source of heat loss and air leakage into the attic and recommends an insulated cover. A warning notes the risk of injury when operating or using the stairs, and the drawing states that springs and the handrail are not shown.
