Generated explanation

The illustration shows a pressure-type vacuum breaker installed on an elevated piping loop serving a lawn irrigation system. Arrows indicate supply water rising to the vacuum breaker and descending into the irrigation piping. An enlarged section shows normal operation with the valve open and water flowing from the bottom inlet to the side outlet. A second section shows a backflow condition, with the valve closed and air entering through the top vent and passing toward the outlet. The installation drawing also includes shutoff valves, a hose faucet, and an irrigation outlet.
