Generated explanation

The illustration shows a cross section of a bathtub and tiled shower enclosure, including wall framing, floor framing, and the tub drain and trap. Two enlarged details compare the tub-to-tile junction with and without a tile lip. The upper detail, marked with a green check, shows an upturned tub lip behind the tile, caulking at the junction, and support beneath the tub rim. The lower detail, marked with a red X, shows water penetrating the junction of a tub without a tile lip and flowing down behind the bathtub.
