Generated explanation

A cross section shows a bathtub filled with water to the overflow opening, with its drain, overflow pipe, and trap visible. An enlarged detail shows the overflow cover and a dried-out rubber gasket between the tub wall and overflow fitting. Water leaks through this connection and runs down outside the overflow pipe toward the floor. A large red X and the title warn against testing bathtub overflows.
