Generated explanation

The illustration shows a cross section of a tiled shower stall with a prefabricated acrylic base, a door, and a drain connected to a trap and drain pipe below the floor. Wall and ceiling framing surround the enclosure. An enlarged detail shows the tile, grout, backing, and caulked junction between the tiled wall and the raised edge of the base. The annotations state that marble or ceramic wall tile used with a prefabricated acrylic base generally performs well and recommend concrete board or mortar backing. An inspection note advises looking for soft backing material or loose tiles near the base; these conditions are not explicitly drawn.
