Generated explanation

The illustration shows a Saltbox-style house identified with the period 1700 to 1750s. Its asymmetrical gable roof has a longer rear slope than front slope, with a large central chimney projecting through the roof. Horizontal clapboard siding covers the walls, and the front elevation has a central entrance and two levels of multipane windows. The side elevation shows the extended rear roof profile, and a bracket identifies the house as 1-1/2 rooms deep. The drawing illustrates architectural characteristics rather than defects or installation practices.
