Generated explanation

The illustration presents examples of steel, aluminum, and vinyl exterior siding. The steel siding is shown with a pressed, staggered masonry-like pattern, with notes explaining that steel can have a prepainted finish or vinyl coating. The aluminum and vinyl siding sections show slotted upper fastening flanges and formed lower edges. Annotations distinguish painted aluminum, which can reveal the underlying metal when scratched, from vinyl, whose color extends through the material. No installation defect is depicted.
