Generated explanation

The illustration shows a section through an interior stair flight connecting two framed floor levels. A fire stop closes the concealed space at the bottom of the stairs, and the header at the top acts as a fire stop at the upper floor connection. A continuous layer beneath the inclined stair assembly is labeled as required 1/2-inch drywall. Dashed arrows trace the potential path of fire through the concealed floor and stair spaces without these protective measures. Green check marks identify the fire stops and underside drywall as correct provisions.
