Generated explanation

The cutaway illustration shows a drum-type humidifier attached to a furnace return duct and connected by a round bypass duct to the furnace supply plenum. Airflow arrows indicate air entering through the supply-side connection and leaving toward the return duct. A cylindrical drum pad sits above a water pan, with its lower portion extending into the pan. A water supply line feeds a float valve that maintains the pan's water level. A side-mounted motor drives the drum, and a humidistat is shown connected to the unit.
